5 O’Clock Somewhere Friday: A Drink for a Barbecue

5 O’Clock Somewhere Friday: A Drink for a Barbecue
The Weaver Trio of Whey / Photo by Robert Donovan

My maternal grandfather used to drink ice cold buttermilk with a plate of pulled pork barbecue. When my little girl face would scrunch up and I’d ask why, his answer was always that he liked how the buttermilk cut the fat of the ‘cue. It was good, and that was that.

Rod Weaver, of Weaver Family Whey and The Bar at Husk, is debuting a cocktail at the Charleston Brown Water Society BBQ on July 12 that has a similarity to my Paw-paw’s pairing. Decidedly more elegant and blended (yay, adult milkshakes!), this makes a batch ready for barbecue, after campfire hot dogs, or in place of your favorite summer blender beverage.
