CHOCOLATE CHESS PIE WITH A SMATTERING OF WALNUTS

The Southern cooking arsenal has a tremendous amount of pie recipes. It seems as though everyone has an idea of what the perfect pie is. For many, the choice is Chocolate Chess Pie. It’s gooey and chocolate-y and, well, actually that’s all you really need in a perfect pie, right? Not exactly, but it certainly makes for a scrumptious dessert.

This pie hails from Sissy Hassey, the Innkeeper at Sea View. She guards her recipes fiercely, with good reason, as they are absolutely wonderful. The best part about most of her dishes is how deceptively simple they are. Limited ingredients and minimal steps make recreating her wonders a breeze. Her Pawleys Island Pie is an excellent version of the chocolate chess pie—one that you should definitely add to your growing pie recipe arsenal.
