Three Editor’s Picks for Southern Grown
THE AVETT BROTHERS

A celebration of all things Southern, Southern Grown at Sea Island, Georgia, combines top-notch chefs, a tranquilly beautiful location, and some of the best music the South has to offer.

We are so pleased and honored to be a sponsor of this festival, and you will want to check out the whole schedule of events to whet your appetite as an all access ticket is the way to go. The events will ALL be good.

However, here are three event teasers for this inaugural festival that we are excited about and hope you will be too. We’d love to see you on the island.

1. Southern Food Gallery
in the Spanish Lounge

FRIDAY 5PM / Presented by Sysco Rich with history, the Southern food landscape is the result of colliding cultures. With cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres inspired by Southern staples, the Gallery speaks to the foodstuffs that create the fabric of this culture.
GUEST CHEFS PARTICIPATING /// Scott Crawford, Justin Devillier, Linton Hopkins, and Vivian Howard.

2. The Gulf and The Atlantic

SATURDAY 11AM-12.15PM /  Presented by Southern Bi-Coastal Representing the 2009 James Beard Award class for Best Chef South and Best Chef Southeast, John Currence and Mike Lata unite on Rainbow Island. This intimate culinary class, hosted by two patriarchs of the southern food movement, will highlight products pulled from Southern waters, the Atlantic and the Gulf, and feature the “Pole to Plate” philosophy as espoused by both award-winning chefs. All hands on deck.

3. Southern Grown Concert
Ocean Front at The Lodge

SATURDAY, GATES OPEN AT 6PM / Present by SunTrust It’s all about brothers from the South—the opening act is the Wood Brothers, a high-energy Nashville-based Americana/Blues band.  Headlining the concert is the Avett Brothers, a Grammy nominated alt/country act from North Carolina with traditional folk and bluegrass influences.
