A peach cocktail may be an unlikely way to ring in the new year but that is what Neal Bodenheimer and his mixologists from Cure in New Orleans have planned for the big night. “We know that peaches seem like the furthest thing from what you’d think to drink in the dead of winter, but we love stone fruit and winter spices together. We figure that we don’t live in the pre-electrical era, so we embrace the fact that freezers exist and we should benefit from the technology. (And let’s be honest, IQF frozen fruit actually works better for most syrups than fresh fruit, but don’t tell anyone.) Peaches, ginger, winter baking spices and sparkling wine; how could you go wrong,” said Bodenheimer. A taste of summer in December? What a delicious way to toast the new year.
