Enabling the Chocoholics

Enabling the Chocoholics
Photo and text by Tracy Jones

The salty crunch of marbled bacon enveloped in a cocoon of Belgian milk chocolate brought me through the door of The Chocolate Boutique this morning. It’s the chocolate-coated sprinkled marshmallow the size of my hand that makes me want to come back this afternoon. And it’s the dark chocolate cayenne pieces that will lead my cravings tonight.

I am a chocoholic, and The Chocolate Boutique is my enabler. With two locations in central North Carolina, one in Raleigh and the other in nearby Morrisville, Kesha Dozier is following her dream.

“Like many people I am passionate about chocolate and wanted to create an environment for all ages to enjoy fine chocolates,” Dozier says. “I also love bringing a European fine chocolate experience to the Carolinas.”

The Chocolate Boutique is unique in that aside from traditional retail, it offers chocolate parties, where guests pick from one of her 1,200 molds and create their own cocoa-infused experience. While I have yet to partake in this adventure, I am certain that any activity that results in me leaving with a ½ pound of chocolate in my hands would be a successful night. The liquor license is also a plus, since wine and chocolate make a great couple.

Peering through the glass case in front of me, I suck in my stomach a little and remind myself that restraint is the key to my jeans fitting tomorrow. I only need one right? I walk out with six because if I purchased five I’d get the sixth one free. I couldn’t pass up the bargain… or the white chocolate tiramisu truffles.
