Find Your Neighborhood Chocolaterie Before the Weekend

The South is in the midst of a chocolate renaissance. Local chocolatiers, like Dan and Jael Rattigan of French Broad Chocolate, start from scratch, roasting cacao beans and creating their own blends of craft chocolate bars and confections. The Rattigans source their chocolate from small farmers, then roast, crack, winnow, grind, conche and temper chocolate in small batches in their factory in Asheville. Similar stories of bean-to-bar production are taking place around the South. With this much creative chocolatiering, why would you ever buy chocolate from a grocery store brand again? We combed the South, and found eight chocolatiers offering a creation perfect for your Valentine.
