Louisville is the place where, if you’re not careful, you have so much fun meeting friends and tasting bourbon that the night gets away from you and restaurant kitchens start to close. However, in a foodie town such as this, don’t succumb to fast food or greasy spoons just out of hunger. We have a solution for you.

The Garage Bar, housed in a former gas station and including outdoor ping pong tables, doesn’t necessarily seem like it’s going to have good eating. But when we arrived, late and more than a little hungry, we spotted curing hams inside and knew that our menu options were looking up.
In the end, we decided on one of Chef Michael Paley’s pizzas from a wood-fired brick oven, and it was fresh and deeply satisfying to a hungry editorial team. The combo of ingredients was fresh as well (corn on a pizza?), so we asked him to share the magic, and he did.
