In-season, ripe strawberries are a beautiful spring work of art, bursting with juice and sweetness, and as such, they need a beautiful frame in which to be displayed.
For such a frame, we turned to Chef David Garcia at Cakes & Ale Restaurant in Decatur, Georgia. He did more than think “outside the box”—he got rid of it, or in this case, the pie pan, instead suggesting a beautiful, elegant and flavorful galette. The addition of cinnamon, vanilla, and orange liqueur heighten one of spring’s most prized jewels.
