One of my favorite things about popcorn is that it tastes good with pretty much anything on top. Sweet or salty, popcorn is the perfect crunchy snack. Concentrics Restaurants and CaJa Popcorn (both in Atlanta) have started a new venture to take your typical butter and salt to the next culinary level. Chef-driven flavors are inspired by seasonal ingredients and creative combinations, and there are several house flavors and a flavor of the month.
CaJa takes typical flavors, such as caramel corn or cheesy popcorn, and gives them a fun twist. Caramel corn becomes Sea Salt Caramel popcorn, suited to those of us who like sweet and salty all at once, and cheesy popcorn becomes Pimento Cheese popcorn, a delight for southern palates. More atypical flavors come to life in CaJa’s Peaches n’ Cream and Spicy BBQ popcorns. For those who still want the classics, CaJa has the classic Butter Popcorn and Kettlecorn.
Flavors of the month come from Concentrics’ chefs. May’s Flavor of the Month is Mexican Street Corn from Adrian Villarreal of The Spence. June is Lemon Pepper and Parmesan from Chef Todd Stein of TWO urban licks. July’s flavor is Peppered Bacon and Scallion Crema from Nick McCormick of TAP. Chef Russell Kook of LPC supplies August’s flavor – Calabrian Chili and Pecorino. September’s popcorn is Smoked Salt & Vinegar courtesy of PARISH Chef Edward Russell. October spices things up with seasonal Chai Pumpkin popcorn from Chef Nick Oltarsh of ONE. midtown kitchen.
Stop into CaJa for samples of these fun flavors – and classics too!
