Popcorn, Peanuts and Porter Milkshake!

Popcorn, Peanuts and Porter Milkshake!

To be honest, and anyone who know me will confirm this — I am not much of a sports fan. When it comes to the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB or fantasy football leagues, I am lost.

That being said, John Schumacher of the Charleston Riverdogs, a minor league baseball team in Charleston, South Carolina, may have found just the ticket to help me on the road to becoming the sports fan that my husband would love for me to be. The Riverdogs are a great team, and they are lots of fun to watch, but it is the food that will keep me coming back again and again. John has expanded the concession offerings so that we are no longer limited to hot dogs and roasted peanuts but can chose from the kitchen sink nachos, the monster pimento pickle burger or my favorite, the beer milkshake.

At the stadium, they offer a few different varieties of the beer milkshake but my favorite, and the one I make at home, is Palmetto Espresso Porter with vanilla bean ice cream. Play around with your favorite local brew and ice cream, whatever combination you choose will be tasty. Just be sure to use a beer that is strong enough to keep up with the creaminess of the ice cream. If you need help choosing a beer, try one of these:

  • Sweetwater Brewing Company Exodus Porter
  • Highland Brewing Company Thunderstruck Coffee Porter
  • Holy City Pluff Mud Porter
  • The Duck Rabbit Milk Stout
