Mixing cocktails can be fun, unless it means that you can’t be a part of the festivities. Don’t spend your New Year’s Eve behind the bar. Kerry Junco of a.Lure in Savannah, Georgia created a punch recipe that can be tailored to serve your party, be it large or small.
Punch is a British concoction that was created in the 1600’s and traditionally has five ingredients: liquor, sugar, citrus, tea and spices. Punches have fallen in and out of favor through the years but they remain an easy and tasty way for a host to make a drink ahead of time without the worry of serving cocktails throughout the evening.
“This updated classic is the perfect make-ahead cocktail for holiday parties. Boozy and bright, it is sure to fill your guests with holiday cheer! “said Kerry.
Her punch is a hybrid of a planter’s rum punch with Daufuskie Spiced Rum, and a southern bourbon punch with Virgil Kane Ginger Infused Bourbon . She also includes a ginger simple syrup for an extra zip of flavor and finishes it with champagne for a bit of effervescence.
