Locals agree, The Plaid Apron in Knoxville, Tennessee is the place for breakfast or lunch. Actually, they probably will tell you to eat both breakfast and lunch there. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy, just right for hanging out with a locally-sourced breakfast and steamy cup of coffee. If you can’t get to Knoxville this weekend, try making their sausage bread at home. Chef McDonald recommends serving it with a fried farm fresh egg, a side of mushrooms, and some seasonal greens. While the sourdough bread requires some additional effort, it’s absolutely worth the extra energy (though he thankfully also offers a shortcut). Enjoy!
