December is sweet, especially if you enjoy craft cocktails and sweet potatoes. The North Carolina Sweet Potato Commission is hosting “Sippin Sweets,” a cocktail promotion during the month of December. Mixologists were challenged to create a craft cocktail using the state’s sweet potatoes, and from sweet potato simple syrups to candied sweet potatoes, the mixologists got creative.
Mixologist Joey Allabach creates cocktails at Vivace, a contemporary Italian Trattoria located in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he embraced the challenge by using the vegetable’s earthy sweetness and infusing a spirit with it. The cocktail’s name means “Fall to Winter” when translated from Italian to English, and you might forget short days and gray skies with this sweet sip shared with friends.
