Southern-style barbecue varies from state to state, sometimes city-to-city, and Southern natives love a good debate on whose barbecue style or sauce reigns supreme.
This September, TLP celebrates the diversity of this cuisine with Brew ‘n’ Cue Showdown, an exclusive event part of Colonial Williamsburg’s Taste Tradition weekend. Pitmasters and brewers from four states will compete against one another as they show off their best hog and hops skills. Then, Colonial Williamsburg chefs will create a dish incorporating the barbecue. Attendees vote on Best BBQ, Best Beer, and Best Dish.
So, pick your State, start building that barbecue pride, and get excited with this sneak peak of Virginia’s participating pitmaster, brewery, and Colonial Williamsburg chef.
Buz Grossberg of Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue / A renowned pitmaster based in Richmond, Virginia who learned his ways from Ned, a true BBQ master with recipes over 150 years old.
Hardywood Brewery / A wide-range production brewery developed by two friends who discovered hand crafted beer in 2001 at a sheep station in Australia called Hardywood Park.
Chef Scott Watson of Williamsburg Inn / Executive Sous Chef under acclaimed Executive Chef Travis Brust, Chef Watson is responsible for assisting with menu conception, writing and training the Regency Room culinary crew, and so much more.
