Worth the Heat: Pecan Pie Picnic Cookies

We know the weather is heating up to maximum volume all over the South, so we wouldn’t suggest you heat up the oven for just any cookie. But for these cookies? Better hit preheat.

Putt Wetherbee of Schermer Pecans is a fan of the shady summer picnic (with bonus points for sea breezes), and he gets plenty of picnic companions when he promises to bring these little ditties. Don’t be afraid to take the shortcut of buying a quality prepared pie dough, although we have a pie crust recipe if “you’d never!”  We’re simply advocating maximum picnic time, which means more time eating cookies.
