½ ounce star anise

1½ ounces Great King Street Blended Scotch

¼ ounce Port syrup (recipe follows)

¼ ounce fresh lemon juice

Doc’s Crisp Apple Cider

Orange twist for garnish

Port Syrup

2 cups ruby port wine

2 cups sugar

Pinch salt

1 dried fig, chopped


  1. Muddle anise in a shaker tin. Add rest of ingredients and lots of ice.
  2. Shake then double strain over cracked ice in a double old fashioned glass
  3. Top with cider and garnish with an orange twist.
Port Syrup
  1. Put all ingredients into a saucepan and reduce by two-thirds over medium heat.
  2. Strain and set aside to cool. Keep refrigerated.
