After a long four years, Acme Food & Beverage Co. and chef Kevin Callaghan are thrilled to announce that the 8th Annual Salt & Smoke Festival is back in person! Join this unforgettable afternoon in Carrboro, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 28, to celebrate the fall season with great southern food, craft drinks, local music, and community.
The festival is action-packed with yard games, smoked whole-hog BBQ, raw oysters, amazing musicians, and good people. Artist haven, Sonark Media is hosting the afternoon's events on its beautiful rural property in Hillsborough. Salt & Smoke creates an authentic Southern space with the best chefs, musicians, farmers, brewers, fishermen, and cooks in the South.
"Head Honcho" chef Kevin built the festival on a foundation of friends, family, and food one year in early December when he hosted a cozy pot-luck style bonfire at his home. Inevitably, it began to snow. This moment was one that Chef Kevin wanted to recreate over and over, sharing this feeling with his Orange County neighbors and beyond.
"It felt exactly right. It felt like something that I wanted to do again and again and, well, again. If I could," says chef Kevin Callaghan. "Salt & Smoke has been a sell-out every year since. So we decided to take it on the road. Why not? Really, it’s hard to hold a good thing back."
