Hotel Bella Grace

Old Meets New in the Holy City

The Neighborhood: Situated near the crossroads of Lower King Street— Charleston, South Carolina’s boutique shopping district—and the lively restaurant and bar scene on Upper King, Hotel Bella Grace is a prime home base for exploring the Holy City. The hotel overlooks Mother Emanuel AME church and is steps from Marion Square Park, a city-block sized green space.

The hotel is sleek and contemporary, full of white marble, cool gray tones, and mirrored accents.

The Food Scene: From the hotel, it’s a short walk to dozens of restaurants–or just a few paces to the Delaney Oyster House. The newly renovated Charleston Single-style home built in 1830 is now a hotspot for fresh seafood. A jaunt down Meeting Street lands you at lauded FIG—book a table well in advance and when you sit down to it, order the ricotta gnocchi—while a few more blocks puts you at Southern revival restaurant Husk (four words: pig ear lettuce wraps) and the nearby 82 Queen (known for she-crab soup, a Lowcountry specialty). Another half-block and you’ll be on King Street at Bin 152, a relaxed neighborhood wine bar perfect for ending the night with a bottle and a cheese board.

The Digs: Dark hardwood floors, gunmetal bed frames, and dripping black chandeliers provide stark contrast to marble countertops and a statement wall, wallpapered white and gray. The hotel’s fifty rooms include techy touches like reading lights that nest into headboards and USB outlets in bedposts, and suites include a full kitchen with a two-burner glass cooktop, full-sized refrigerator, and dishwasher.
