Inspired by a rich love for the Texas Hill Country, The Trueheart Hotel is a boutique 13-room hotel just off the main strip of downtown Fredericksburg. Owners Nick and Alice Adair have curated individually-personalized bungalows that embrace that “home away from home” feeling. Formerly The Sugarberry Inn, the hotel underwent renovations in 2020 to create an intimate oasis just steps away from downtown shopping, restaurants, and outdoor activities. While each bungalow offers a private retreat, guests seeking company can stroll the grounds and meet up at the large limestone fireplace or covered patio, or have a picnic on the lawn.

Each bungalow offers its own unique set of amenities. Whether a refreshing outdoor shower, porchside rocking chairs, glowing gas fireplace, or standalone bathtub, personalized luxuries make each suite feel tailored to guests’ interests. Whether guests opt for a room, suite, or cottage during their stay, they’ll find a Dos Carolinas robe, curated bath amenities, and a king-sized bed draped in a lush down comforter. Rooms harness a playful Texan style, mixing vibrant colors among natural elements and incorporating vintage artwork pieces.

The most unforgettable part of the experience is the signature biscuit breakfast baskets. Delivered to suites early in the morning, each basket includes a soft, homemade buttermilk biscuit; small jars of jam, honey, and whipped butter; and freshly-squeezed orange juice. Everything comes on vintage china and adorable glassware that the hotel recycles each day. A flaky buttermilk biscuit in bed while the fireplace hums is a cherished Trueheart Hotel memory.
