AN EPICUREAN AFFAIR

The 5th annual Gourmet & Grapes Weekend is less than a month away and, as one of the sponsors, TLP could not be more excited. Located at the famously beautiful Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, this is the only culinary extravaganza in the Lowcountry that brings together renowned chefs and winemakers to raise money for cancer research. Since its inception in 2006, Gourmet & Grapes has raised more than $500,000 for cancer research programs at Hollings Cancer Center at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Over the course of the weekend, guests will immerse themselves in the culinary world, in the beautiful setting of Kiawah Island. Is this not the exact formula for a perfect weekend? The weekend kicks off on Friday, February 8th with a black tie epicurean affair featuring Executive Chef Justin Bogle of Gilt at the New York Palace. The dishes of this distinctive multi-course dinner will be paired with the award winning wines of Lionello Marchesi from Tuscany. The evening will be nothing short of luxurious.

Gourmet & Grapes continues with three events on Saturday, with something to please every guest. The day begins with a gourmet luncheon featuring Executive Chef Scott Crawford, of The Umstead Hotel & Spa in Raleigh NC. Chef Crawford will describe and demonstrate each dish of the meal for guests. Each course will then be served alongside paired wines from Jordan Winery.

Saturday continues with a Build Your Own Afternoon event. Guests will have the choice to attend one of two wine seminars offered: one were you can Build Your Own Cabernet blend featuring Cain Vineyard and Winery, and one where you can Build Your Own Bubbles featuring Moet Hennessy. Pick your poison (or pleasure!) and learn how to create your own concoction.

Saturday ends with the main event, the Wine Odyssey Gala. During this elegant evening, guests will savor the flavors of the Southeast, whilst having the chance to meet chefs and taste each of their unique creations—all the while sipping on distinctive wines from around the world!

Gourmet & Grapes comes to a close on Sunday with a Farewell Brunch on The Grand Lawn. Here, guests will enjoy one last culinary delight, and salute the chefs before heading home.
