Cranberry Gin Smash



1 ounce Cranberry Spice Simple Syrup (recipe follows)

1 ounce lemon juice

2 ounces Hat Trick Botanical Gin

Cranberries for garnish

Rosemary sprig for garnish

Cranberry Spice Simple Syrup

1 cup water

2 inch long piece of orange peel (no pith)

1 cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

10 cranberries

1 cup sugar

3 sprigs fresh rosemary



  1. Add ice to fill half the glass
  2. Add simple syrup, lemon juice, gin to glass.
  3. Cover with cocktail shaker and shake well for 10-15 seconds
  4. Using a fine mesh strainer, strain liquid into serving glass.
  5. To serve in rocks glass; add a couple fresh ice cubes or serve neat in a coupe style glass
  6. Garnish with a rosemary sprig and skewered cranberries and orange peel.

Cranberry Spice Simple Syrup

  1. Place cinnamon, orange peel and cranberries in small saucepan and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Strain through mesh strainer, and then add sugar. Stir until dissolved, about 1 minute. Add rosemary and allow to cool completely. Remove rosemary before serving.
  3. Can be stored in refrigerator for 2- 3 weeks.
