Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s nationally celebrated pastry chefs turn up the heat and the sweet at South Carolina’s only Forbes Five-Star destination.
Set along ten miles of gently rolling surf and pristine sands, The Sanctuary is a haven of private-island luxury. At this oasis, guests are invited to savor every moment, including award-winning tastes from the only Forbes Five-Star dining experience in the state, The Ocean Room. Here, meals are a multi-course showcase of epicurean ingenuity and Southern hospitality. Even sweeter, every experience is punctuated by confections that deliver a finale as unforgettable as the vistas beyond the plate.
The decadent dessert offerings at The Sanctuary, helmed by Executive Pastry Chef Jordan Snider, have not only captivated guests of Kiawah Island Golf Resort, but the world’s stage as well.

For Chef Snider, precision, refinement and technical expertise have always been the cornerstones of his craft. These principles have guided his career, from leading pastry teams at elite destinations in South Carolina, Las Vegas and San Diego, to his current role at Kiawah’s esteemed crown jewel. In 2023, his mastery led him to be an integral part of Team USA at the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie in Lyon, France. Considered the most prestigious pastry competition in the world, the Coupe du Monde is often described as the Olympics of the pastry world.

Two years later, Chef Snider has once again earned the opportunity to compete, having been selected as a member of Team USA, which will compete in the Americas Division of the 2026 Club Coupe Du Monde De La Patisserie, scheduled to take place next summer in New Orleans. As a sugar candidate, he will showcase his high-end pastry arts at the much-anticipated event. A victory there will secure his and Team USA’s position at the next Coupe du Monde international competition in Lyon, France, in July 2027.
Guests are invited to admire—and personally indulge in—Chef Snider’s artistry at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort year-round at Jasmine Porch, The Ocean Room and Signature Gourmet Coffee Shop. A stay during the winter holidays is an extra sweet treat when his enchanting life-size chocolate sculptures remain on display for all to see—and smell—in the hotel lobby.

This fall, another rising star on Chef Snider’s pastry team will spotlight her creative skills to a nationwide audience. Pastry Sous Chef Sarah Arnold has been selected to compete on Season 2 of Harry Potter Wizards of Baking on the Food Network, premiering November 2.
Prior to her current role at The Sanctuary, Chef Arnold appeared on the Food Network’s popular confection-focused competition, Halloween Wars, helping her team to a spine-tingling win in 2024. Known for her skillful techniques and imaginative designs, she brings her passion for innovative sweets to every delight she makes.
