Savor a Weekend Getaway to Shreveport-Bossier

By: TLP's Partners

For your next weekend getaway, check out Shreveport-Bossier in Louisiana. The city is an easy drive from Houston, Dallas, and New Orleans, and just a quick flight from Nashville, Atlanta and other major U.S. cities. Along the Red River in Northwest Louisiana, you can find seven casinos featuring gaming, live entertainment and mouth-watering Cajun eats.

Off To the Races

Visitors can watch a horse race at Louisiana Downs Racetrack and Casino, home of the super derby. Then hit the casinos for table games, slots, poker and more. For some much-needed rest and relaxation, Spa Blu inside of Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino Shreveport is a great place to unwind—offering massages, sauna treatments and more.

Where Soulful Cuisines Take the Reigns

Foodies will enjoy the delectable options offered in Shreveport-Bossier where there’s enough flavor, style and soul for two cities.

The Port Seafood Restaurant is located inside of Horseshoe Bossier City Hotel and Casino and offers fresh burgers, beer and seafood—featuring oysters raw, grilled, fried, or even Rockefeller style for a rich and flavorful option.

For an option outside of the casinos, and that’s pet friendly, Ki Mexico is a local hot spot specializing in Mexican soul food. Although at first glance their menu offers some familiar items like tacos, their dishes are anything but ordinary. The restaurant uses a blend of ingredients that are traditional to Mexico along with Cajun favorites. A great example is the Bergeron’s Tortuga, which features your choice of smoked ham or andouille sausage, complete with melted cheese, chipotle, tomato, avocado, onions, mustard and Mexican mayo.

A Night on the Town

Keep the night going with a visit to R Bar inside Live! Casino and Hotel Louisiana for cocktails and tapas. For a more casual option stop by The Seventh Tap Eastbank, which has rotating craft beers and beignets. For a morning pick-me-up after your night on the town, Rhino Coffee is a great spot for coffee, with several convenient locations in Shreveport.
