The Carolina Inn Turns 100

In just six months from now, The Carolina Inn Hotel, one of the most iconic and should be said, most comfortable homes-away-from-home, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, will mark its 100th birthday. This is a cause for celebration, and The Carolina Inn team, hospitality luminaries, and the broader community have collaborated to produce a range of festivities in 2023 and 2024.

Several events to commemorate and honor this centenary are planned, beginning with a series of festive 1920s-style dinners in the original beautiful Old Well Ballroom. Try the Charleston or fox-trot across the elegant floors, and lose your worries under the chandeliers. The events will transport the guests through Chapel Hill’s history and the ages with period-style cocktails and an intricately designed menu inspired by some of the inn’s original and most iconic dining options. There will also be live music, and a decor reminiscent of the inn’s classic and elegant inception.

Other events include a fun-filled Roaring Twenties Afternoon Tea and Historic Tours complete with refined canapés, desserts, and Champagne. Do not miss a chance to walk the halls of 100 years of history and revelry.

These events are a time to consider all that has changed at the Carolina Inn Hotel and all that has remained connected to its historic and classic roots. In August 2023, a signature anniversary beer is set to launch, as well as the release of a crystal Christmas tree ornament. Fridays on the Front Porch has become a Chapel Hill institution. Every Friday beginning April 7 through October 27, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m., you can set your weekend off to an amazing start sipping on craft cocktails and North Carolina beers while enjoying live music and nibbling on cuisine from the weekly food truck lineup.
