Arching over Savannah’s historic Forsyth Park, a 19th century gothic building stands with pointed peaks and galleries of windows. The eagerly anticipated Hotel Bardo officially opens to the public in February of 2024, and will become home to an urban oasis, exclusive clubs, and community spaces. From New York City-based real estate development and hospitality firm LEFT LANE, Hotel Bardo is envisioned as a serene retreat within a transformed historic structure but also as a cultural and social mecca in the midst of a modern city. The two-acre resort will hold 149 guest suites, a holistic spa and wellness center, elevated Mediterranean dining at Saint Bibiana, event spaces tailored to both small and large parties, and engaging social spaces via Club Bardo and Camp Bardo.
Upon arrival, guests are ushered through a magnificent courtyard into the hotel lobby where they are greeted by The Green Room, a multifunctional bar poised for a morning coffee or dazzling night cap. Named for the transitional space prior to a performance and metaphorically symbolizing a private sanctuary, The Green Room will offer craft cocktails with refined ingredients and Mediterranean-inspired small bites like black truffle arancini and fried capers crostini. Beyond the lobby, eyes are immediately drawn to the lavish 25-meter pool decorated with Bardo-branded umbrellas and inviting cabanas. Accompanying the pool is the hotel’s second bar, Bar Bibi, which offers poolside pizzettes, salads, and crudo paired with bright, tropical cocktails or Bibi’s Spritz, a prosecco bottle service for Italian aperitivo by the water.
Retreat to your suite for an intimate and serene escape draped in sophisticated decor. Step out onto a terrace overlooking the park, or peer out your window onto the courtyard below. Hotel Bardo’s atmosphere emphasizes a merging of old and new, invoking a sense of timeliness, and envisions a space that has been intentionally chiseled into a masterpiece. Community is a pillar of Hotel Bardo’s ethos, so the walls are often covered with murals, sculptures, and paintings from renowned local artists and SCAD graduates.
For those intrigued by Club Bardo, members will gain access to an exclusive lounge housed above Saint Bibiana, priority room rates, pool and fitness center access, and special event invitations. Club Bardo will have its own menu dedicated to club classics like chips and caviar, mint juleps, sandwiches, and burgers. Children ages 5 to 12 are also invited to attend Camp Bardo.
Reflecting the age-old concept of a Greek bathhouse, Hotel Bardo promises to blossom into a social and cultural epicenter for Savannah residents and an illustrious getaway for visitors.
