The 100-year-old log cabin that now houses Highlands Supper Club was originally built as a residence and was home to The Log Cabin restaurant before it was overhauled and revamped into the new concept—but the charm of the space remains fully intact. Set beside Trailborn Highlands, a newly renovated hotel, the restaurant is built for mountainside dining.

At the entryway, there’s a small waiting area with a fireplace and directly to the left sits the charming bar area, a cozy space with about eight seats for those looking for either a pre-dinner drink or to enjoy the full menu. Beyond the bar, the dining room is broken up throughout the cabin’s smaller rooms. Each space has its own unique vibe, like the main room, which gets a comforting glow from a massive stone fireplace that’s lit throughout the colder months. Toward the back, windows flood a porch-like space with light. Throughout, there are chestnut and pine beams, wide plank floors, custom wallpaper, and wood prints and other local items on the walls. It perfectly embodies the surroundings, bringing a sophisticated but comfortable dining experience to Highlands.
The menu matches the mountain-town energy with hearty, Southern-inspired fare. Start with a cocktail like the bacon fat-washed Woodford old fashioned, which is served from a small flask poured tableside and sports a fun bacon garnish. That’s a good pairing to go alongside a starter of bacon-topped deviled eggs. Riffing on upscale Appalachian cuisine, there’s also a Duroc pork chop over a sweet potato hash, a Southerner’s cioppino with shrimp, local trout, clams, and crawfish, and local favorites like a half chicken served roasted or fried and elk tenderloin served over white cheddar grits. For dessert, don’t miss the apple cobbler for two (or more).
There’s also brunch on weekends, with challah French toast and shrimp and grits (plus a solid bloody mary) as well as a solid list of cocktails, local beers, and wines, making it a place well suited for both casual get-togethers and excuses to celebrate.
