I visited New Orleans for the first time this past Labor Day weekend. It happened to coincide with my writing about City Eats New Orleans by Beth D’Addono (Cider Mill Press, 2024) for this column, and the synergy was exciting. Not only have I now been to Bywater/Marigny, I also got to meet the author, whom I’ve worked with for two years now, and eat a meal with her at Alma Café, one of the restaurants in her cookbook.
