Family Fun in Fort Myers

By: TLP's Partners

Fort Myers is the place to play all day, no matter your age. Make treasured family memories throughout the islands, beaches and neighborhoods in this area of Southwest Florida. From white-sand beaches to indoor attractions, the family fun never stops here.

Discover Local Museums

Do a little digging into Fort Myers’ history at Edison and Ford Winter Estates, which has 20 acres of tropical gardens and a museum full of historical artifacts. Continue your journey back in time when you visit the Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium to discover the natural history museum and see a variety of prehistoric fossils. You’ll also encounter wildlife like reptiles and amphibians. At IMAG History & Science Center, the kids can get even closer at the touch tank plus explore hands-on STEM exhibits.

Explore the Outdoors

Seashells on Captiva

There’s fun for the whole family on the Great Calusa Blueway, a 190-mile canoe and kayak trail that meanders through coastal and inland waters. Keep a lookout for wildlife like migratory birds. If you can’t get enough, head to J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, where you might encounter more birds plus turtles, river otters and manatees. Spend a day relaxing on white-sand beaches, and you can take home the ultimate souvenir: whole seashells that wash in from the Gulf.

Visit Local Attractions

Find your fun at a family-friendly attraction. Enjoy the thrill of a waterslide — or the lazy river, if that’s more your speed — at Sun Splash Family Waterpark. Gator Mike’s Family Fun Park in Cape Coral has an activity for everyone: axe throwing, paintball, a mini-golf course, go-karts, and more. If you’re traveling with a furry friend, they’re also welcome at the Shell Factory & Nature Park, featuring the world’s largest seashell shop, an on-site fun park and daily entertainment. There’s unique wildlife at the Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs, like pink flamingos and other exotic birds. Take a miniature train ride or pedal a surrey bike around a freshwater lake at Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers.

Indulge In a Tasty Treat

Sweet treats taste better under the warm Southwest Florida sun. Pay a visit to one of the four Love Boat Ice Cream locations to choose from over 50 flavors. For something a little more upscale, visit Norman Love Confections and pick out gourmet chocolates. Visit Boops, the bakery at the Bubble Room Restaurant on Sanibel Island for a slice of one of their whimsically decorated cakes. You’d also be remiss not to visit Sun Harvest Citrus for free freshly squeezed juice and citrus samples or a cone of their famous swirled soft-serve.
