Tucked into western Maryland and adjacent to Deep Creek Lake, Maryland’s largest freshwater lake, Cove Creek Lodge is an ideal jumping-off point for the area’s multitude of outdoor activities—from boating, white-water rafting, and hiking to snow sports of all kinds. Select from 29 rooms and suites on two levels in the recently renovated lodge, which is charmingly rustic with modern updates and designed to be both family- and pet-friendly. In summer, the heated outdoor pool and community firepits make the best of lovely weather; in winter, a fireplace room is just the ticket, but all guests can enjoy the community fireplace adjacent to The Black Antler Lounge. Keep in mind that many local businesses close from Sunday to Tuesday during certain winter months, but the lodge is truly set up to be a home away from home with in-room microwaves, mini- or full-size fridges, two-burner stovetops, and outdoor grills.
