Guests checking into Le Meridien Madison in downtown DC will step into a gleaming lobby that harks back to the Golden Age of travel and the hotel’s own rich history. In 1963, First Lady Jackie Kennedy cut the ribbon at the opening of The Madison, DC’s first modern luxury hotel. She and President John F. Kennedy were among the hotel’s famous guests, along with Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali, and Elizabeth Taylor. Tributes to Jackie O.’s style can be found in today’s Marriott Bonvoy hotel like the lobby chandelier inspired by her signature pearls. In 2024, the hotel underwent a $15 million renovation as it rebranded as Le Meridien Madison, reimagining the lobby and 365 guestrooms. Each room has new furnishings, art, and wallpaper; the color palate is primarily black and white with pops of rose pink, hot orange, and forest green along with gold accents. Check into the Hamilton and Jefferson suites to take in their wall-to-wall terraces with seating and beautiful skyline views. The in-house restaurant, Lady Madison, is led by the friendly and talented chef David Nvodjo, who brings his Ghanaian roots and 30 years of experience to the refreshed menu. The hotel has also introduced the Unlock Art Program, providing free access to museums for guests.

The Market Place in the lobby has grab-and-go bites.

Book the Jefferson Suite to see the Washington Monument at sunset from the terrace, then head down to the lobby and order the loaded steak salad if available—tender steak on a bed of mixed greens topped with goat cheese, pancetta, and crispy onions that will knock you out with flavor.
