Bourbon Brown Butter Cake

A word on the bourbon: No sooner did I think of brown butter and toasted pecans than I thought of bourbon, but you might think of dark rum or whiskey— they’d be good, too. If you’d rather skip the liquor, do— you needn’t change anything in the recipe, although you might want to add 1/4 teaspoon pure almond extract to the batter.
