Swig & Swine

Casual and Functional Lowcountry Barbecue in Myrtle Beach

Swig and Swine platter

“Horrifying vegetarians since 2013,” Swig & Swine is a sleek new BBQ joint in the heart of downtown Myrtle Beach. It’s the newest location for the Charleston-based restaurant from pitmaster Anthony Dibernardo, both a Navy veteran and a veteran of the food industry.

Swig & Swine specializes in classic BBQ favorites like brisket, pulled pork, sausage and St. Louis–style ribs smoked with a combination of oak, hickory and other hardwoods. They bring in local Lowcountry flavor with sides like hash and rice, grits, and greens to pair with a sizable cocktail, whiskey and beer list.

What’s Good Here?

If you like BBQ, then you’ve come to the right place. However, one house specialty that’ll turn heads is the pork rind nachos, which tops crispy chicharrones with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, Tabasco honey, queso and pickled onions. An under-the-radar hit is their smoked chicken wings, which come in a variety of sauces, and although saving room for dessert here can be a tall order, the Nutter Butter Pie is worth it.

Insider tip: Keep an eye out for their prime rib special on Sundays – a thick slice of smoked prime rib arrives at the table rosy red with the classic pairings of au jus and a horseradish cream sauce, and is served with two sides.

What’s the Vibe?

Like any great BBQ joint, Swig & Swine ain’t blowin’ smoke. The digs are casual and functional – you’d feel welcome popping in for a bite even if you were still a bit sandy from the beach. There’s also a large, fully stocked bar that invites diners to grab a stool and catch a game.
