The City of Chamblee began as a small rail town in 1908 and is now the fastest growing city in DeKalb County in Georgia. Chamblee has long been known as a transit center due to its close proximity to two major interstates, a heavy rail MARTA station, DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, a Norfolk Southern rail line, and the motor mile on Peachtree Boulevard with over a dozen automotive retailers. Now, thanks to a diverse immigrant population, the city has become an international dining hub too.

Miles of global cuisines can be found on Buford Highway, from Korean comfort foods to Malaysian street food. Plaza Fiesta’s indoor South American market located on the bustling Buford Highway Cultural Corridor is packed with 280-plus shops, but at the center, visitors can experience cuisines from Mexico to Venezuela. Atlanta Chinatown Mall’s food court highlights Laotian, Cantonese, and Vietnamese flavors; grab it to go and enjoy it in a peaceful garden complete with a koi pond. In downtown Chamblee, diners can savor the flavors of neighborhood favorites or discover new finds that are opening regularly in the city’s Entertainment District where patrons can grab a crisp margarita on the go and experience the active downtown community. Venture out of the downtown area and you’ll find a dish that will please even the pickiest eater. From Michelin-recommended restaurants to neighborhood eats, you’re guaranteed to find a new favorite on every corner.

Looking to experience as many of these cuisines as possible at one place? Grab your stretchy pants, because Chamblee is returning the flavor and hosting A Taste of Chamblee for the fifteenth year. The event will be held on October 19, from 3-8 p.m. in Downtown Chamblee. Last year’s turnout garnered over 7,000 attendees and an even bigger turnout is expected this year!
A Taste of Chamblee is more than just a food festival, it’s a celebration of craft vendors, diversity, and culture. The event will feature activities for the young and the young at heart to help burn off those extra calories. The beer gardens will have college football teams playing on the big screens. If you’re not a football fan, no worries. The wine down tent will have live performances with selections of red or white wine. The festival is free to attend, but any food or drink purchases will need to be done through the Intellitix App or using a cashless payment method such as credit or debit card, Apple or Google Pay.
