In the foothills of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Sevierville, Tennessee’s restaurants are celebrating the harvest with tempting autumn flavors around every corner.
The Apple of Our Eye
Sevierville’s Apple Barn & Cider Mill is a working orchard pressing the most out of its apples every day. Not only can you watch the bakers at the Apple Barn create handmade fried apple pies and apple butters with their harvest, but you can also get a peek at how the Apple Barn Hard Cider House crafts over twelve varieties of alcoholic and non-alcoholic ciders with tasting notes such as honey basil, blueberry, and loganberry. Their new fall cider, First Frost, combines apple, vanilla, and cinnamon for a crisp sip of the season.
Pumped About Pumpkin
Pumpkin treats are a highlight of autumn, especially when the flavor is found in unexpected dishes. For a limited time, dig into a decadent pumpkin-stuffed French toast breakfast at Flapjack’s Pancakes. This fan-favorite uses a thick sliced pumpkin roll prepared like French toast and finished with a drizzle of caramel sauce.
After dinner, indulge in a decadent pumpkin canoli at Roma Table. The creamy blend of ricotta and mascarpone cheeses, pumpkin, and cinnamon give this classic Italian dessert a seasonal lift and make it a must-try item on this locally owned Italian eatery’s fall menu.
Sinful Cinnamon
SkyLand Ranch’s ooey, gooey cinnamon bread topped with sweet frosting pairs perfectly with autumn days and mountain views. Two delectable batches are made each day at noon and 6 p.m. to ensure it is fresh and piping hot. Take the peaceful chairlift to the top of the mountain to find this tempting treat, plus live entertainment, opportunities to meet miniature ranch animals, spectacular fall views, and holiday lights beginning November 1.
Rich Brews
Sevierville’s breweries keep the fall flavors flowing, too. At Gatlinburg Brewing Company try Ace Pumpkin, a pumpkin cider that you can enjoy as a 16-ounce pour or get it a la mode and topped with whipped cream and cinnamon.
On the banks of the Little Pigeon River, Iron Forge Brewing Company’s indoor and outdoor areas invite beer lovers to kick back and try fall favorites made on-site like their “wee heavy” strong Scotch ale called Anvil Ale or their Oktoberfest style beer lovingly named Iron Fest.
