The holiday season is alive and well in Moore County and the Sandhills of North Carolina with a variety of festive celebrations in the Pinehurst, Southern Pines, and Aberdeen area.
The Big Feast
On Thanksgiving Day, don’t miss the Blessing of the Hounds. This beloved community event is a time-honored tradition in Southern Pines and a fun way to kick off the holiday season. The event begins promptly at 10 am. Or, before the big feast, get some steps in at a Thanksgiving Day hike at Weymouth Woods. Join others for this annual 2-mile community hike.

Holiday Activities
Throughout the holiday season, celebrate our small towns with a long list of Christmas parades and tree lighting ceremonies. For something different, come to Red’s Corner in Southern Pines on Dec. 6 for the Christmas Karaoke with Elijah McCormick and Friends. See our former “American Idol” star perform and have a chance to sing a Christmas carol with him and win a gift card to support a local business. If you are into the arts, catch a number of live traditional holiday shows at local theaters and performance centers throughout the area.

Beer and Wine Tours
To experience some holiday cheer, get a passport and complete our Sandhills Pour Tour or Wine Tour! Earn stamps and win prizes after you visit our local breweries, wine shops and cider house.
