As the kick-off to summer approaches, we’ve collected some of our favorite TLP recipes to get you in the spirit for Memorial Day weekend.

The folks behind Sea Island Forge and residents of Georgia’s pastoral Little St. Simons Island, have a simple solution to your celebration spread. It involves a cast-iron kettle (or your trusty grill), a pile of seasonal veggies, some smashed fingerling potatoes, and an herb-marinated tri-tip steak.

Take your sides up a notch: Those aforementioned fingerlings make the perfect base for a tangy potato salad, while coleslaw gets a well-deserved update courtesy of red cabbage and a turmeric-tahini drizzle.
If your focus is on the libations, try whipping up a batch of frozen old fashioneds or strawberry daiquiris (hint: these put the sugary beach-bar version to shame).
Or soak watermelon in tequila and sprinkle with Tajin for a boozy bite. And when it comes to refreshment, you can’t beat this five-ingredient almond iced tea.
