Makes one mocktail

    ingredients
  • 2 ounces blackberry basil syrup (recipe follows)
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • Ginger beer
  • Club soda
  • Garnish: blackberries

  • Blackberry Basil Syrup
  • 2 cups blackberries
  • 2 cups demerara sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 cups basil
steps
  1. Fill hurricane glass with crushed ice.
  2. Add syrup and lime.
  3. Fill glass ¾ with ginger beer.
  4. Top with soda. Garnish with 2 blackberries.

 

Blackberry Basil Syrup

  1. In a sauce pan, muddle blackberries.
  2. Add water and sugar, then bring to a boil.
  3. Turn down heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. Turn off heat, add basil, then cover.
  5. Let steep for 10 minutes. Strain all ingredients out of mixture.
  6. Can be stored in refrigerator for one week.
