4-6 servings

  • 1 bottle of dry red wine
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • Mulling spices (recipe follows)
  • Mulling Spices
  • 3 ounces whole cinnamon sticks
  • 6 whole nutmegs
  • about 1 ounce
  • ⅓ cup chopped dried orange peel
  • ⅓ cup chopped dried lemon peel
  • ¼ cup allspice berries
  • ¼ cup whole cloves
  • 2 Tablespoons finely chopped crystallized ginger
  • about 1 ounce

Mulling Spices

  1. Place cinnamon sticks and nutmegs into KRUPS grinder and grind.
  2. Place in a bowl and stir in orange peel, lemon peels, allspice, cloves, and ginger.

Mulled Wine

  1. Combine wine & sugar in a non-reactive pot over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  2. Add in juices and the spice mixture. Heat until steaming but not boiling.
  3. Serve immediately or keep over low heat until ready to serve.

Note: This is a great drink to serve out of a slow-cooker at a party!
