    For Cocktail
  • 2 ounces Homemade Southern Comfort (recipe follows)
  • 1/2 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 3/4 ounce cranberry juice
  • Homemade Southern Comfort
  • 1 (750 ml bottle) higher proof bourbon
  • 1 vanilla bean, split
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1/4 orange, cut into chunks
  • 1/2 peach, cut into chunks
  • 1 cinnamon stick


  1. For cocktailCombine all ingredients in shaker, fill with ice, shake, and strain over fresh ice.
  2. For homemade Southern Comfort:
    Pour bourbon into sealable wide-mouthed container, such as a Mason jar. Add remaining ingredients, and steep covered for 5 to 7 days. Strain liquid through a fine mesh sieve, then return it to jar, discarding all fruits and spices.
