Smoked Tuna Dip with Hot Buttered Saltine Crackers

At The Citizen in Alys Beach, Florida, good eats run aplenty. Even better, the chef’s recipes prove that gourmet cooking doesn’t need to be a project. For a flavor-packed snack that comes together in less than 10 minutes, we’re big fans of their tuna dip with buttered saltine crackers. You simply dress up pre-made smoked tuna dip from your local market or fish monger, and you can do this while the buttered saltines turn golden and crispy in the oven. We recommend adding extra herbs and spice to the dip for a real kick!

    For the saltines:
  • 70 crackers
  • 16 ounces melted unsalted butter
  • Maldon Sea Salt
  • For the dip:
  • 24 ounces smoked tuna dip, preferably 100% tuna
  • Garnish: pickled jalapeños or onions, cilantro or dill

  1. Prepare the saltines: In a bowl, melt butter and use tongs to dunk each cracker in. On a rimmed baking tray, place each buttered cracker and sprinkle with salt. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. In a dip bowl, place tuna dip. Sprinkle with pickled jalapeños or onions and cilantro or dill. Serve with hot sauce and saltines.
