Baked Eggs in Tomato Sauce

  • Large white eggs, hard boiled (brown eggs do not take color well)
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 4 cups water,Vegetables or spices for dye
  • Colors
  • Tumeric (yellow)
  • Red cabbage (blue)
  • Beets (pink)
  • Blueberries (grey blue)
  • Blackberries (purple)
  • Chili powder (orange)
  • Coffee (dark brown)

Combine all ingredients (besides eggs) in a saucepan. Add desired vegetables or spices as dye and stir well. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain, reserving the liquid for dyeing.
