The Gajra cocktail embodies the floral essence it is named after: jasmine flowers worn in the hair of South Indian women. It blends the flavors of mint, jasmine, and elderflower, boosted by dry Liberty & Plenty Whirligarden gin and bright El Guapo lime cordial, women-owned brands local to Durham.

Yields 1 cocktail

    ingredients
  • 1¼ ounces Liberty & Plenty Whirligarden gin
  • ½ ounce Dolin Génépy le Chamois
  • ½ ounce St-Germain elderflower liqueur
  • 1 ounce brewed and cooled jasmine tea
  • 1 ounce El Guapo lime cordial
  • 4-5 mint sprigs
steps
  1. In a Boston shaker filled with ice, add all ingredients. (Shaking the mint with the other ingredients has the effect of bruising it, with fewer steps.) Shake until shaker is visibly frosted and very cold, 15 to 30 seconds.
  2. Strain the Gajra cocktail  through a finemesh strainer into a coupe glass.
