On a cold evening, warm up with a nonalcoholic take on mulled cider fortified with zero-proof rum. To make prep easier, put the small spices in a tea ball for infusing. This recipe also works well with zero-proof whiskey or bourbon. Pro tip: This also makes a great brunch drink and is easy to multiply for a crowd.

Makes 2 mocktails
10 oz unfiltered apple cider
4 allspice berries
whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
3 oz high-quality zero-proof rum
Apple slices, for garnish
Ingredients

- In a small saucepan, combine the cider, allspice, cloves, and cinnamon stick and warm over medium-high heat und the mixture comes to a simmer.
- Remove from the heat. cover. and let steep for 5 minutes.
- Add 1½ oz/45 m rum to each mug.
- Divide the warm cider mixture between the mugs and serve warm, garnished with apple slices.
