While the Pinehurst area of North Carolina is globally regarded as the Home of American Golf, there are a multitude of things to do and see off the course throughout the Sandhills of North Carolina this summer.
Highlighted events will be the playing of the 124th U.S. Open Championship at Pinehurst Resort June 10-16 on Donald Ross’ fabled No. 2 course. Outside of the championship, visitors will find a wide range of fun events, concert and theatrical performances, equestrian events, street festivals, holiday celebrations and more.

Rock the Village
Pinehurst Business Partners, in collaboration with the Village of Pinehurst and the Convention and Visitors Bureau, are excited to be launching the inaugural Rock the Village campaign, a unique and engaging art installation project designed to captivate visitors from late May through August. Local artists are transforming rockers into magnificent works of art and these one-of-a-kind Troutman chairs will be prominently displayed throughout the Village of Pinehurst for all to see and admire.

Peach Week
Peach Week takes place July 18-28 and runs as a complement to the North Carolina Peach Festival in nearby Candor as a celebration filled with all things peaches. Enjoy family-friendly activities throughout Moore County including an ice cream social, movie night, 5K fun run, food and beverage competition, Sandhills Bogeys baseball night, Power Cars and Peaches car show, a 90’s concert, Peach-A-Palooza party and more.
U.S. Kids Golf
For a two-week period from late July into early August, the annual U.S. Kids Golf World Teen Championship (July 24-27) welcomes golfers ages 13-18 to seven championship courses in the Pinehurst area. That event is followed by the U.S. Kids World Golf Championship (August 1-4) with golfers ages 5-12 vying for coveted titles. These championships are staged on numerous golf courses throughout the Sandhills and draw competitors from all 50 states and up to three dozen countries. Be sure to attend the Parade of Nations which files through the Village of Pinehurst on the evening of July 30.

Pinehurst Barbecue Festival
The Pinehurst Barbecue Festival is a Labor Day weekend fixture that runs August 30-September 1. This three-day festival is a celebration of taste and tradition featuring award-winning pitmasters from across North Carolina. Staged in Pinehurst, the event offers a unique culinary experience with the opportunity to sample a variety of mouthwatering barbecue meats and traditional sides.
In addition to a large selection of local area events, Pinehurst is also renowned for a world-class spa, antiquing and 32 trails for hiking, biking and outdoor adventures. The area also boasts imaginative local restaurants, five breweries, wine bars and a brand-new destination distillery, the Brad Halling American Whiskey Ko. Pinehurst, along with nearby downtown areas in Southern Pines and Aberdeen, offer quaint walkable shopping districts, where visitors can browse an abundance of boutique stores, art galleries and antique shops.
