Gingerbread old fashioned, inspired by Moravian cookies

Based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Broad Branch Distillery creates fine ryes and spirits modeled after Blue Ridge Mountain distillation techniques. Their surrounding environment provides top quality ingredients along with inspiration for the spirits and cocktails they make. The distillery’s mixologists take a nod from local Moravian traditions by reimagining Christmas cookies in an all-grown-up form. The intensely spiced, wafer-thin Moravian cookie has a snappy crumb and deep flavors of allspice and ginger. Those spice notes drove this holiday-ready riff on the classic manhattan. With cookie-like elements from gingerbread syrup and baking spice-infused bitters, the resulting gingerbread old fashioned puts Moravian cookie flavors in a smooth, sophisticated beverage.
