This Pecan Gouda Tart recipe is the perfect handheld for your afternoon tea that will allow your guests to sit and eat or mingle. These tarts combine creamy smoked gouda, toasty pecans, and a hint of nutmeg for a savory and balanced bite at your afternoon tea.

Makes 4 (3-inch) tarts

    Ingredients
  • 2 ounces toasted pecan pieces, divided
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon pepper
  • 4 (3-inch) tart shells
  • 2 ounces smoked gouda, divided
steps
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place pecans on a baking sheet and toast in the oven until fragrant.
  2. Remove and allow to cool; meanwhile, place tart shells on a baking sheet and bake for 13 to 15 minutes.
  3. Set aside at room temperature.
  4. Reduce oven temperature to 275 degrees.
  5. In a bowl, beat eggs and mix in heavy cream, milk, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  6. Sprinkle each tart shell with ½ ounce toasted pecans and ½ ounce gouda.
  7. Place baking sheet on oven rack; pour equal amounts of egg mixture into each shell to just below shell rim. Bake until filling is set, 15 minutes.
