Garibaldi

By: The Local Palate
Topping a garibaldi cocktail with an orange wedge

For a whimsical start to the cocktail making process, start off with a swift salute to Dantes in NYC and Giuseppe Garibaldi buried on the island of Caprera. Named for the famed Italian general, this recipe for the garibaldi comes from Charleston’s beloved neighborhood hub babas on meeting and is often a famed feature for their aperitivo hour. Babas encourages getting experimental with how you spruce up your Select Aperitivo, suggesting additions like mint or strawberry hydrosol or cocoa bitters as a way to balance out the acidity of the oranges.
