one cocktail

  • 1½ ounces aged rum (Flor de Caña recommended)
  • 1½ ounces reposado tequila (el Jimador recommended)
  • 2 ounces freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 1½ ounces Coco Lopez
  • ½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ¼ ounce allspice dram*
  • Garnish: grated nutmeg

  • The Turnover is a transitional cocktail, relying on a good dose of grapefruit juice to bridge the gap between winter spices and warm weather spirits.

*Or substitute pimento dram or a dash of allspice.

  1. In a cocktail tin, combine all ingredients except nutmeg with ice. Shake vigorously, then strain into a chilled cocktail coupe or martini glass. Garnish with grated nutmeg.
