Dining Out
Metzger Bar & Butchery
By: The Local PalateFounded by four partners, Metzger Bar and Butchery pays homage to the Union Hill neighborhood of Richmond, Virginia, where the restaurant resides. They offer rustic, seasonal, and sustainable food and drink inspired by the history of the neighborhood’s butchers, tanners, and German immigrant population. In the early days, Metzger functioned as a market, selling retail meats, cheeses, and wine during the day, and turned into a bar and restaurant at night.
Now, after years of experience under their belt, the restaurant found itself a hit, offering new takes on European fare, classic German beers, innovative cocktails, and Central European wines to Richmond’s culinary scene. With locally sourced produce, delicious homemade desserts, and a plethora of drinks to try, Metzger is a Richmond cultural hot spot with an energetic, social atmosphere.
